Paramount
Canada's Wonderland: Ontario's major Theme Park is located only
35 minutes away on Highway 400. Don't forget your bathing suits since our All-Day Passports include
Splashworks, Wonderland's immense Water Park.
African Lion Safari:
Just as it sounds, go on a safari through a huge park filled with wild animals
located only 30 minutes away. Drive your own vehicle through the park or take
the Safari Bus (recommended). Be sure to see the many scheduled live
animal demonstrations while at the African Lion Safari.
CN Tower: The World's
Tallest Free-Standing Structure offers Games and Rides on the lower
levels, and a Breath-Taking, Glass Floored Observation Deck up near the
clouds. Fine Dining is available at CN Tower's Revolving Restaurant
in the sky. Enjoy a panoramic view of Toronto with your meal Reservations are
recommended and will save the cost and the wait for the elevator to the observation
level. The CN Tower is one of the world's most incredible engineering marvels
and is Toronto's most popular tourist attraction.
Casa Loma: Completed in 1914, this magnificent castle is open to the public daily. Come and enjoy the elegance and romance of the turn of the century. Step back in time as you explore the former estate of Sir Henry Pellatt, a prominent Toronto financier, industrialist and military man.
Metro Toronto Zoo:
Rated one of the Top Ten Zoos in the World, Metro Toronto Zoo presents animals
from every continent in their natural settings within a site of over 700 acres.
Bring your camera and your walking shoes. Restaurants and amenities are available.
Ontario Science Centre:
A hands on look at the world of science and the natural world. The Ontario
Science Centre's motto is "Please Touch". Take advantage of
the many special shows and demonstrations taking place on a daily basis. Surround
yourself in sight and sound at the OMNIMAX® Theatre.
Black Creek Pioneer
Village: Take a trip back in time to the era of our forefathers
and experience daily pioneer life as it used to be. See how food was prepared,
cloth was spun and how they survived in a harsh environment.
Wild Water Kingdom:
Have the time of your life at Canada's largest outdoor water theme park.
Bring your bathing suits and come to play! Wild Water Kingdom offers
a 1/2 acre wave pool, tube rides, speed slides, kids water playground and much,
much, more.
Ontario Place:
This major entertainment park is located on Toronto's waterfront islands
in Lake Ontario and features IMAX® films, rides restaurants, concerts
and attractions. Ontario Place is a wonderful spot for a day of family fun and
relaxation by the water.
The Canadian National Exhibition: From mid August until Labour Day each year Toronto's lakeshore Exhibition
Park comes alive with the world's longest running fall fair with midways,
rides, shows and the Canadian National Air Show. Located adjacent to
Ontario Place, admission to either includes access to both.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
The Niagara Escarpment: Because of our proximity to one of the world's most recognized international biospheres many hiking trails and quiet retreats can be found a short distance away. The Halton Region Conservation Authority manages these lands and gives us an opportunity to visit the following very popular attractions in the immediate vicinity of Toronto West KOA:
Lake Kelso: For swimmers and canoeists - and a good place for fishermen to relax.
Hilton Falls: A natural treat with 16 kilometers of hiking trails and a scenic waterfall.
Crawford Lake: Explore a 15th Century Iroquoi Indian village and a very special lake in a wilderness setting completely encircled by a boardwalk for visitors to enjoy.
Mountsberg Wildlife Centre: Includes a 500 acre lake, a well known Raptor Centre housing many impressive exhibits, resident birds-of-prey and a bird hospital.
Rattlesnake Point: A rock climber's heaven which includes a buffalo herd - but no Rattlesnakes.
Mount Nemo: Another of our local internationally renowned rock climbing centres - including caves and 1000 year old cedar trees.
The Bruce Trail: This world famous hiking trail follows the Niagara Escarpment from Niagara Falls and winds past the campground and through some of the above attractions on its way to the tip of the Bruce Peninsula on Lake Huron. It is the oldest and longest marked hiking trail in Canada
Golf Courses: Our area is blessed
with several dozen fine golf courses ranging from courses to challenge
the ubiquitous duffer to world class courses that cater to the pros. Several
public courses, such as Hornby Glen, Granite Ridge, Indian Wells and Carlisle,
are only minutes away.
Mohawk Raceway / Mohawk Slots: This world class harness racing
track, operated by the Ontario Jockey Club, is located adjacent to Toronto
West KOA and offers racing and over 750
slot machines and dining facilities operating year round. Parking and admission
are free. It's an easy walk from the campground.
The Village of Campbellville: Our quaint and picturesque hometown
on the outskirts of the bustling Greater Toronto Area boasts country restaurants,
antique shops, book stores, gift shops and a modern shopping court. Be sure
to ask for our advice and one of our local maps to direct you to all the attractions
in the local area.
St. Jacobs Country: Just an hour or so to the west you can explore the Historic Mennonite Settlement of St. Jacobs and sample the wares offered by the many artists and artisans that populate this village of more than 100 shops and restaurants.
Farmers Markets: Our nearby Town of Milton transforms Main Street into it's famous Farmers Market each Saturday during the summer. Other well known Farmers Markets will be found a short drive away in Kitchener and St. Jacobs.
Factory Outlet Mall: Big brand name savings on fashion, footwear, accessories, children's things and many other items will be found at the ST. Jacobs Factory Outlet Mall.
Antique/Flea Markets: Several major, well known antique/flea markets will be found in the nearby towns of Aberfoyle, Kitchener and St. Jacobs.
Pick-Your-Own Farms: We are blessed
with several of Canada's Best Multi-Season
Farms offering fresh
berries and lots of other good stuff throughout our season. We will direct you
to Chudleigh's Apple Farm, Long Lane Orchards, Springridge Farm and Andrews
Scenic Acres.
White Rock Ostrich Farm: A unique farm market offering tours, wagon rides, gifts and frozen ostrich meats.
Halton County Radial Railway Museum: Take an exhilerating ride on an old fashioned train.
Country Heritage Park: An interactive heritage park depicting the evolution of agriculture and rural life over the last 170 years.
Whinny Acres: Enjoy a full day or weekend of riding, in partnership with Whinny Acres, Southern Ontario's Premier riding establishment. Day or weekend rides must be booked 1 Month in advance, so reserve early. Rides must be reserved directly with Whinny Acres. The minimum age for all riders is 9 years old. Previous experience for children is mandatory. Western trail riding at its best.
VISIT NIAGARA FALLS FROM TORONTO WEST KOA
The Famous Falls are just an easy 75 minute
drive by expressway from Toronto West KOA. On your stay with us plan
to spend one day viewing the splendor of Niagara Falls and visiting the
various attractions and the Casino. On your way to the Falls you will
drive through Ontario's wine country which offers many opportunities
for enjoyable vineyard tours and visits.
